DIRECTOR’S BIO: Brenna Goodwin-McCabe is a versatile writer and director from Vancouver BC with a keen interest in media adaptation. She has presented writing at McGill, Dalhousie, and the University of British Columbia, where she earned her Masters of English degree in Gothic cinema. In 2020, she established Hearth Pictures with her shorts “Half Full” (2021) and “The Still” (2022), later writing, directing, and executive producing “I Can’t Go On” with the Crazy8s organization, the short recently winning 4 Leo Awards including Best Direction, Cinematography, Sound, and Score. In addition to filmmaking, she publishes media analysis through her blog (youremindmeoftheframe.ca), writing about some of her favourite films and shows.

DIRECTOR’S BIO: Victoria Warmerdam, born in 1991, graduated as a director and writer from the Art School in Utrecht in 2015. In the same year, she earned the Burny Bos Talent Award at the Cinekid Festival for her sci-fi feature concept, SpaceKees. In 2019, she wrote and directed her short film, SHORT CALF MUSCLE, which has been showcased at over 150 festivals, including Oscar-qualifying ones such as Leuven, St. Louis, Winterthur, Edmonton, Gijon, Foyle, Show Me Shorts, Aesthetica, and Asiana ISFFF. In 2021, her short film SNORRIE (MUSTACHIO) premiered at the Oscar-qualifying LA Shorts and was featured in over 150 festivals, including Oscar-qualifying events like Leuven, Flickers, Uppsala, Go Short, Foyle, and Gijon. This short film also earned over 50 international awards. I’M NOT A ROBOT marks her third film and had its international premiere at Sitges IFF, where it clinched the prestigious Best Short Film award, making the film eligible for the 2025 Oscars.

DIRECTOR’S BIO: Born and raised in the Netherlands, Yfke grew up wanting to be a magical princess. Disappointed by the lack of magic in the world, she became a writer/director instead, so she could at least create her own fairytales. She has a BA and MA in Film History and Theory (2003) from the University of Amsterdam and an MFA in Film Directing (2006) from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
Her films include the zombie musical ZOMBIE LOVE, the horror documentary XANGADIX LIVES!, the #metoo horror LILI and the explosive IZZY, which had her world premiere at BIFAN in 2024. Her films have screened at over a hundred festivals all over the world including Fantasia, Beyond Fest and Fantaspoa and have won over fifty international awards. To this day, Yfke still often wears (blood-splattered) sparkling dresses and waves a magical wand.

DIRECTOR’S BIO: Kyle Kouri is an actor, writer, filmmaker, and producer in Los Angeles, CA. He received his MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, where he served as the online arts editor for the Columbia Journal. He is the co-founder of Slashtag Cinema, an independent film production company based in Los Angeles. He is the co-host of “Nobody Reads in LA,” a web series highlighting independent bookstores around the world. In 2024, he played Brutus in a production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar at the California Theater of the Performing Arts, and starred in “Shakespeare in Vegas,” an ensemble comedy which premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
His fiction has appeared in Cleaver Magazine, the Columbia Journal, Ghostwatch Zine, and The Los Angeles Press. He lives in LA with his three rescue dogs and his girlfriend, the writer CJ Leede. KEEP COMING BACK, which Kouri directed, co-wrote, and stars in, is Slashtag Cinema’s first film.

DIRECTOR’S BIO: Scarlet Moreno is a director and actor based in Los Angeles. Her narrative shorts have premiered in festivals across the country and the world. She made her first feature film, Phaedra under the guidance of director Robert Rodriguez on his docuseries, Rebel Without a Crew, where she met Co-director and now dear friend, Josh Stifter. Scarlet grew up in Laredo, TX on the border of Mexico, then attended TISCH School of the Arts to attain her BFA in Acting & Journalism. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her wildest dreams, and has been making movies ever since.
Josh Stifter began his filmmaking adventure crafting short movies with his friends after school everyday. He pursued animation and quickly found a job creating cartoons for film director Kevin Smith. He has worked with companies such as Troma, CNN, SModco, 1517 Media, and El Rey Network. After years of creating shorts and animated films, Josh decided to tackle features, jumping at the opportunity to make his first full length film with Robert Rodriguez with his Rebel Without A Crew series. It was there he completed his first film The Good Exorcist. He followed it up with his sophomore film Greywood’s Plot, and he’s now finishing his third feature Scumbag.
