FILMQUEST 2022 OFFICIAL SELECTIONS
The 2022 FilmQuest saw a record setting 1,567 films and screenplays submitted for consideration. This shattered our previous record for submissions, and made judging and selecting this year’s lineup an incredibly difficult task. From these submissions, we have made our Official Selections across several categories from around the world to play and compete at the 2022 FilmQuest Festival. Screenplay finalists were chosen by a group of professional third party judges, of which we the list of 80 finalists (50 features, 30 shorts) has been made. A total of 31 nations are represented in the final selections. Over 50% of all projects selected were either written, directed, and/or produced by a female filmmaker.
The 9th annual FilmQuest will take place October 28th – November 5th, 2021 at the Velour Live Music Gallery in beautiful Downtown Provo, Utah. Tickets and passes will go on sale once the schedule of events and screenings are finalized. A virtual cinema, with selections screening exclusively online will also be a part of the festival, with more information on how to access the films coming soon. The website will be updated with information on each film and screenplay in preparation for the physical festival this Fall.
Due to the ongoing fall-out from Covid-19 and other global events, affecting filmmaker travel, participation and attendance of the festival, particularly amongst non-US citizens, the festival decided to keep an expanded 2022 lineup. Thus, 9-11 extra blocks of films (about 16-20 hours) have been accepted into the festival as an Official Selection to screen virtually only, while also remaining in competition. This was done in order to ensure maximum participation for both those that can join us at FilmQuest in-person and also those who cannot from afar, and which films will screen as such will be determined in a near future date.
Nominations will be announced for all awards at a later date. Premiere statuses TBD. Selections are subject to change before the festival.
