IRATI (SPAIN)
SYNOPSIS: Charlemagne’s army ravages the Pyrenees and to confront it, the mountain leader of the valley asks for help from the ancestral gods of the place, which are about to disappear due to the arrival of Christianity. Through a blood pact, he defeats the enemy by giving his life in exchange for him, but first he makes his son Eneko promise that he will be a good leader for the valley. Years later, Eneko, now an adult and of Christian belief, is preparing to fulfill his promise, when in strange circumstances, the body of his father buried next to the treasure captured from the Franks disappears, calling his lineage into question. Eneko will have to recover them to fulfill his destiny, for which he will need the help of a local pagan girl named Irati.

DIRECTOR’S BIO: Paul Urkijo Alijo, was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) in 1984. Since he was very young, he has been passionate about cinema, illustration, literature, comics and the fantasy genre, and he is a great fan of reading mythology and traditional stories. In 2008 he graduated in Fine Arts and professionally dedicates himself to audiovisual production, illustration and computer graphics. Thus she begins to write and make her own fiction and animation short films.
In 2016 he wrote, produced and directed his first feature film titled Errementari . A fantasy genre film based on the Basque folklore story “Patxi Errementaria”. The films he has written and directed have won more than 130 national and international awards and more than 400 selections around the world.
