SYNOPSIS: The Basque mountains, in 17th century Spain. At a time when witch-hunts are rife, Kattalin leaves her farmhouse in the middle of the night, fleeing from her husband. Lost in the deep, dark forest, she feels a presence pursuing her. On her way, she comes across three, affable women, who are telling scary stories and recounting the village hearsay as they wash their clothes.

DIRECTOR’S BIO: PAUL URKIJO ALIJO (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1984) Passionate about genre cinema, mythology, and traditional tales. In 2016, he wrote, produced, and directed his first feature film, Errementari. A fantasy film based on the Basque folklore tale “Patxi Errementaria.” In 2023, he released Irati, the most-watched Basque-language film to date in cinemas. The films he has written and directed have won more than 130 national and international awards and more than 400 selections worldwide.
