A NEW GENRE FOCUSED FILM MARKET

Introducing a new genre market for feature films and filmmakers beginning in 2026, FilmQuest’s Marché du Cthulhu is a curated approach to presenting buyers, distributors, sales agents, and more with films that we believe will sell in markets around the world along with the festival’s Official Competition lineup. As the Marché grows in future seasons, we anticipate many more events and opportunities with a curated approach that will push forward the genre film market.

For the inaugural 2026 Marché du Cthulhu, the festival has soft launched with a hybrid remote and in-person experience of 15 additional titles to complement the 18 official selection films. In partnership with Provo, Utah’s InTension Studios, the Marché will screen 8 films in-person at the Studios, while all 15 titles will be presented to participating buyers – a list that includes Sony, Lionsgate, CAA, Bleecker Street, Vertical, Scatena & Rosner, Archstone, StudioDome, and many more being added in the lead-up to the event.

The Marché will run as a companion to this fall’s FilmQuest from Tuesday, October 27th – Thursday October 29th, 2026.

Jon Fitzgerald, co-founder of Slamdance and the former festival director of the AFI Film Festival and Abu Dhabi Film Festival, has partnered with the festival and helped develop this new market. As such, he is the Marché du Cthulhu Director who will be managing the in-person experience this fall.

FilmQuest’s own successful history with programming feature films, in which every feature the festival has ever programmed through the 2024 season has been picked up for distribution and release. However, the festival has seen many more films than it could possibly program that also received distribution and were of high enough quality to generate interest to buyers, and in this there was a need for a fresh approach. Taking the festival’s curation and programming methods and applying it towards inviting additional titles that FilmQuest strongly felt would be of interest to distributors became the foundation by which the Marché is built.
