Announcements
Official Selections are announced as early as possible, meaning that many filmmakers will know about their Selection into FilmQuest well before the deadline for announcements.
Utah's 2nd Biggest Festival
FilmQuest is Utah's 2nd Biggest Film Festival based upon the number of film's we screen during the festival. FilmQuest is only behind Sundance in terms of sheer volume of film's screened.
How We Judge Films
Films are judged by our selection committee through a ten tier category program. Films are graded in the essential filmmaking disciplines of Directing, Writing, Sound, Score, Acting, Production Quality, etc. Each category is graded on a ten point scale, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. That total is then added up, giving your film a score that is then used in our final selection process.
How We Judge Screenplays
Screenplays are judged by our selection committee through a five tier program. This includes spelling & grammar, originality, characterization, etc. Each category is graded on a seven point scale, with 1 being the lowest and 7 being the highest. We then total those grades, giving your screenplay a score that is then used in our final selection process.

2016 OFFICIAL SELECTIONS

1,029 films and screenplays were submitted to the 2016 FilmQuest for consideration. Over a dozen judges were involved in the entire selection process. From these submissions, the following films and screenplays were made Official Selections at the 2016 FilmQuest, which will take place June 17-25th at the Jordan Commons Megaplex Theatres in Sandy, Utah. Tickets will go on sale before June 1st.

Congratulations to all of the 2016 Official Selections! We looking forward to seeing you and your crews at the festival in June!
