This is the Official Schedule for the 2020 (May 2021) FilmQuest Festival. All screenings, labs, panels, workshops and events will be held at Velour Live Music Gallery, with other events around Downtown Provo unless otherwise noted. Start preparing your May 2021 FilmQuest experience today!
Tickets are ON SALE NOW!
The VIRTUAL EDITION of the festival will be available via a private password on Vimeo, and must be acquired via the festival. The virtual edition is free, but is only accessible to to filmmakers, cast & crew, press, etc. Special permission is needed if you are not associated with a film in the lineup to get access to the film.
ALL films will be available virtually, even those play physically. But the films playing in the first five days of the festival (May 21 – 25th) will ONLY be playing virtually, while those playing the last four days (May 26th – 29th) will also be playing in-person/physically, unless otherwise noted.
Virtual Labs & Workshops will be accessible to the public via Zoom. Filmmaker mingles will be conducted via Gather (Subject to change), where filmmakers can also meet and mingle before the premiere of each film block and workshops.

Workshop #1 – “Costumes from The Beyond” with The Mandalorian’s Costume Designer Shawna Trpcic
A virtual workshop, details with “The Mandalorian’s costume designer Shawna Trpcic. We’ll be discussing her past work, how to tell dynamic stories through the pieces of each character, when to get your costumer involved, and more. Shawna also has to their credit the upcoming “The Book of Boba Feet,” “What Lies Beneath,” “The Cabin in the Woods,” “Firefly,” and many other iconic films and costuming to their name. Don’t miss it!

A virtual workshop and lab with Casting Director Steven Tyler O’Connor. With several marquee projects as a casting director and associate under his belt, and working in collaboration with some of the top agents and managers in the business, Steven will help you learn how to cast your next project in ways that will elevate your picture. Workshop #3: “The Inside Story to Independent Financing & Distribution”
A virtual workshop and lab with David Wardle, SVP of Saban Films. We’ll be discussing how to get your film distributed with an industry leading player, as well as what they’re looking for, how you can collaborate with them, and how to take your projects to the next level. The workshop will be taking place via Zoom.

Bio: David Wardle is Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Saban Films, a boutique movie distributor focusing on commercial, talent-driven pictures. David previously headed the legal department at Millennium Entertainment and worked in the film finance group at law firm Loeb & Loeb. David and partners also built and sold their own distribution company, with a library of 60 pictures. David has done financing or distribution work on more than 300 movies in single picture deals and thousands more in slate and library deals. He holds degrees in economics and law from Brigham Young University.

Covid Testing & Filmmaker Check-In
Arrive early and get settled. Check-in for the physical portion of the May 2021 FilmQuest begins! If you’ve been vaccinated, bring your proof of vaccination card, if not, you will be required to be tested with two tests – a rapid test and a lab test – before entry will be allowed into the festival. Testing will be taking place all day by the Utah Department of Health at the festival – if this is missed, you will be required to be tested by one of our certified volunteers, or at a designated location before arrival.

Enjoy the opening of the physical festivities and a long awaited return to FilmQuest and in-person festivals with our opening night party.
